The history of OCTAGON CONTRACTING & ENGINEERING began 10 years ago. In 2005, a small but enthusiastic team, bringing together people with a broad experience in construction, laid the foundation of the company. OCTAGON opened in Bucharest during a period of fervent development of the construction market. The company worked from the beginning on many projects from all the construction sectors.

2005 - 2007 During the first two years, OCTAGON developed its first partnerships with clients that are still part of the company’s portfolio, and we focused on strengthening
the company’s capabilities as a geotechnical construction contractor. This was a time when market integration, strategy planning and research into business opportunities
were extremely important.

2007 - 2009 OCTAGON built the foundation of the tallest building in Bucharest: Sky Tower (137 m) which included the deepest excavation in topdown system in Romania (2009).
The residential complex Maresal Averescu 159 and the office building Olympia Tower, both located in Bucharest, are two other projects where OCTAGON performed infrastructure, structure and consolidation works between 2006 and 2009.

2009 - 2010 After three years of experience in Romania, OCTAGON also approached the international market and contracted projects in Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria. A residential building in Larisa (Greece) and Samsun Power Plant in Turkey are some of the company’s projects abroad.

2010 - 2011 OCTAGON worked on one of the largest private power generation projects in Romania: Combined Cycle Power Plant 867 MW OMV- Petrom Brazi. Metka & GE consortium, the project developer, began the development in 2009.

2011 - 2012 During these two years OCTAGON took a major step in its development strategy. The company expanded to a new continent by opening a branch in Baghdad (Iraq), and is now working on projects in both Baghdad and Basra. In 2011 OCTAGON acquired the construction material supply facilities Comat Electro, located in Bucharest.

2012 - 2013 OCTAGON undertook its first project as a general contractor: the construction of building B of the office complex Hermes Business Campus. The company had previously built the foundation of the same office building in top- down system

2013 - 2014 OCTAGON successfully delivered two major projects in its portfolio: Green Court Bucharest- buildings A and B, and Hermes Business Campus- building B.

2014 - 2015 In 2014 OCTAGON finished the construction works on one of the most important infrastructure projects in Romania: the Underground Passage in Piata Presei Libere in Bucharest. The company is currently performing geotechnical and civil construction works on buildings C and A of Hermes Business Campus office complex and on
the residential complex One Herastrau Park in Bucharest.

After 10 years of accomplishments, challenges, and hard work, OCTAGON is now one of Romania’s top contractors, recognized for the quality of its works and its ability to deliver large, complex projects. In time, the team has grown to 204 employees and the number of built sqm has significantly increased. Our plans for the future are ambitious and we continue to follow the same creed we’ve had since the beginning of our journey: “The sky is the limit!”
